Schellow’s research originates in an interest for methods of memory (re)construction, which he developed and pursued in daily drawing and animation practice.

The hybrid processes materializes into projects that have been shown widely international, 2023/24 a.o. at the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Lyon, the 18th International Architecture Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia, FECIMO Buenos Aires, Moving Image Arts Festivals Toronto, the Courtisane Festival Gent, Dance Source Houston, Dom36 Almaty or the Hamburger Kunsthalle.

In the last year Schellow’s works received awards a.o. @ the Future Of Film Awards Macedonia, Varsity Film Expo Zimbabwe, Sittannavasal and Thilsri International Film Festivals India, Nitiin Festival Malaysia, the Ponza Film Awards Italy and the Kim Ki Duk International Film Festival South Korea.

In addition collaborations in recent years have focused in particular on the creation of specific archives (e.g. Colonial Family Films, Belgium) or on interfaces of human/digital (re)cognition, especially in the field of current deep learning developments.

His pedagogical practice has taken him to universities, among others, in London, Paris, Tirana, Singapore, Mexico City and Brussels, where he founded AnimLAB and since 2013 holds a professorship in animation, heading an MA of more than human practices at the erg - école de recherche graphique.
